Not Much Poker Lately
On Sunday nights, the Palms has a pretty good tourney. $40 buy-in, $5 dealer's add-on, one optional add-on/rebuy for $40. It's basically a freeze-out, people don't go wild.
I think this was the only tourney I've played in the past year where I've never won a hand, yet lasted for over two hours, lol. I simply didn't hit a thing. My best pocket pair was sevens, my best ace was a suited A7.
I never hit a flop, not once, so except for my final hand, I didn't even go past the flop. It was amazing, just stone cold dead. Had I known I was going to run so cold, I would have gone for more steals, bluffed and bullied a little bit, but who would guess that in 90 hands, I would run so badly? Ah, well, it makes me feel human again.
Russ was there from Minnesota. He got a rate of about $15 per night at the Palms. He busted out before me when he tried to slowplay aces into a bunch of calling stations, lol.
Tanya busted out very quickly, sitting to the right of a naive luck-box, and coming out with the worst of it time and again when the newbie wouldn't lay down a hand.
Glenn was dealing, so didn't get to play. Lots of people from around Laughlin came and talked to me, making me feel welcome again, and one of the crowd.
I wanted to go out again on Tuesday night, and play the shoot-out over at the Riverside with Russ. Glenn said I looked too weak and peaked, so he didn't want me to leave home. Oh, well. Russ did very well without me, though, making it past the first round, then claiming 3rd place at the final table. WTG Russ!
